Sec 3 Combined Science (Chemistry) Tuition: G3

Our tutors help Sec 3 G3 Combined Science students understand Chemistry concepts, explain reactions and show calculation steps. Lessons use school assignments, with practice between classes on the topics that need attention.

Live online classes · Maximum 4 students · 1.5 hours weekly

What we practise

  • Use particle and bonding ideas to explain familiar properties
  • Balance reactions and apply the required chemical calculations
  • Connect acid-base reactions with observations and products
  • Read experimental data and distinguish evidence from inference

Syllabus & assessment

Syllabus sources

SEAB K326 and K328 are the 2027 G3 Science syllabuses containing Chemistry. Their assessment schemes cover both sciences in the combination. Source checked 10 October 2026.

Separate what you see from what you conclude

“Bubbles form” is an observation. “A gas is produced” is an inference from that observation. Naming the gas requires further evidence, such as a suitable test and its result. Learning to separate these stages makes practical reasoning clearer and helps students write answers that match the command in the question.

The tutor asks students to identify the observation, test and conclusion in a reaction question. They then write the part the question asks for. Hands-on apparatus work takes place at school.

Original practice exampleAn original reaction example

The task

An acid reacts with a carbonate and produces bubbles. The gas turns limewater milky. What can you conclude, and what evidence supports it?

Worked response

Carbon dioxide is produced; the evidence is that the gas turns limewater milky.

The bubbles show gas formation but do not alone identify the gas. The test result supports the specific conclusion.

Build the concepts that connect several chapters

Formulae, equations and particles recur across Chemistry. A weakness in any one can make several later topics feel unrelated. If a student cannot explain why an equation balances, spend time on atom conservation before adding calculation steps. If a property answer is vague, return to the relevant particle model.

Keep time for the other science in your child’s combination. Use upcoming school assessments to plan Chemistry revision, and choose a few topics to practise each week.

Common difficulties

A remembered reaction does not explain the observation

We connect what is seen with the substances involved and the reaction taking place. The student learns to distinguish a visible change from its chemical interpretation.

How our tutors help

Use the G3 Combined syllabus

We choose examples from the G3 Combined Chemistry requirements and your child’s current schoolwork.

Build a complete explanation

Students name the relevant idea, explain how it applies to the substances given and connect it to the question.

Support recall between classes

Practice and spaced review revisit concepts taught in class. The tutor checks another answer before moving to longer questions.

Getting started

Arrange a trial class

Bring recent schoolwork so the tutor can plan the first lesson.

Bring a recent piece of work

We read the questions, your child’s answers and teacher feedback to choose what to work on.

Confirm the right class

We message you to confirm the school programme, 2027 year level and lesson time.

Try a lesson

A trial class lets your child meet the teacher, take part and see how the lessons work.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

How many students are in each class?

Four, at most. Students are grouped by learning pace, not just by year level, so each lesson moves at the speed of the students actually in it. When no session matches a child’s pace, we open a new one. In a class that size, every child answers questions, gets their working checked, and gets help the moment they need it.

How much does a dedicated trial session cost?

A dedicated trial session at a different timeslot is offered at a subsidised rate of $30. We’ll help you explore the available options.

Is G3 Combined Chemistry the same as Pure Chemistry with fewer lessons?

The courses have distinct learning outcomes and assessment structures. Shared topic headings do not mean identical depth. We use the G3 Combined Science Chemistry requirements to decide what a response needs, then teach that material with focused practice.

Does G3 Combined Science include practical assessment?

The 2027 G3 Combined Science scheme includes a practical paper covering both sciences. Our Chemistry lessons support the reasoning, observations and data work relevant to Chemistry; school laboratory sessions develop hands-on technique. The syllabus guide gives the full assessment table.

What should we bring to a Chemistry trial?

Bring a recent Chemistry assignment or paper, your child’s working and teacher feedback. Share the confirmed science combination and current topic list so we can plan the lesson.

Is registration open for 2027?

Class registration for the 2027 school year is open. Request a trial class using the form. We will message you to confirm your child’s 2027 level and class details.

Is practice included?

Yes. Students practise on DeepThink between their weekly live online lessons.
