Students are grouped by learning pace, not just by level — if no existing session matches your child’s pace, we open a new one.
Class registration for the 2027 school year is open.
Our tutors help Sec 2 and Year 2 students at IB pathway schools develop analytical answers beyond a first observation. Lessons use current school texts to practise explaining evidence and organising paragraphs.

A language choice matters because of what it does in its context. A repeated sound might create tension; a description may make an ordinary place feel threatening; a stage direction may challenge a character’s words. Begin with the meaning of the whole moment, then explain how the chosen detail contributes to it.
Explain what the words make the reader notice before naming a technique. Ask what would change if the writer used a different word. Then use a term such as metaphor or repetition when it helps explain the effect.
The task
“The announcement crawled through the silent hall.” How does “crawled” shape the moment?
Worked response
“Crawled” makes the announcement feel slow and uncomfortable. Against the silence of the hall, it suggests a tense moment in which the listeners are waiting closely for the words.
The answer connects the verb to the surrounding detail and its effect. Naming personification alone would leave that reasoning unstated.

Before writing, decide what each paragraph needs to establish. An answer about a character’s changing attitude might begin with an initial reaction, examine a turning point and explain the later response. Another question may need a different organisation. The plan should follow the argument rather than a fixed order of quotations.
Sum up each paragraph in one sentence. If two summaries say the same thing, combine the evidence or develop a different point. We practise this with the school assignment and discuss other interpretations where they help the answer.
Collecting more quotations does not necessarily develop the answer. We help students decide what each paragraph adds to the interpretation.
Students practise connecting a precise language choice to the feeling, idea or perspective it creates in the passage.
The tutor checks where the student’s evidence or explanation needs development and turns teacher feedback into a specific revision.
Students organise their points around the question, then explain how each contributes to the overall response.
Students try another reading or writing task without help. Practice and spaced review revisit the work taught in class.

Getting started
Bring recent schoolwork so the tutor can plan the first lesson.
We read the questions, your child’s answers and teacher feedback to choose what to work on.
We message you to confirm the school programme, 2027 year level and lesson time.
A trial class lets your child meet the teacher, take part and see how the lessons work.
Frequently asked questions
Four, at most. Students are grouped by learning pace, not just by year level, so each lesson moves at the speed of the students actually in it. When no session matches a child’s pace, we open a new one. In a class that size, every child answers questions, gets their working checked, and gets help the moment they need it.

Texts and assignments vary by school. We use the student’s reading material and task sheet, and teach the comprehension, analysis and writing skills needed for that work.
We currently support Sec 2 and Year 2 students at ACS (Independent), St Joseph’s Institution (SJI), Hwa Chong International School (HCIS), Methodist Girls’ School (MGS) and School of the Arts (SOTA). Lessons use each student’s current English or Language Arts materials.
Look for a more complete explanation, better evidence selection or paragraphs that develop distinct points. A fresh response shows whether the student can make those choices independently after the lesson.
