Maximum 4 students
Students are grouped by learning pace, not just by level — if no existing session matches your child’s pace, we open a new one.
Class registration for the 2027 school year is open.
Our tutors help Sec 4 and Year 4 students at IB pathway schools revise English and Language Arts using recent schoolwork. Lessons focus on explaining texts, organising essays and answering spoken questions, followed by practice without help.

Compare two recent responses and identify the repeated decision that needs work. A quotation may be relevant but unexplained; a paragraph may drift from the question; an introduction may promise an argument the body never develops. Choose one pattern and revise a short section before repeating a complete essay.
Ask the student what they changed and why, then try another question without prompting. Once they can use the correction in a short answer, practise it in a longer or timed response.
The task
An essay states, “The storm represents conflict,” then moves to the next quotation. What could the revision add?
Worked response
Explain which details of the storm echo the conflict and how their placement affects the scene. For example, a sudden interruption may mirror an argument that breaks a previously calm exchange.
Explain the connection using details from the assigned text. The example shows how to develop an explanation; the wording will depend on the passage.

A well-known text still needs to be read through the question. Identify what the prompt asks you to explain, choose a claim and select evidence that contributes to it. Some familiar quotations will be useful; others may belong to a different argument. A short plan should show how each point answers this particular task.
For spoken tasks, practise explaining a point with an example and answering follow-up questions. Use the school’s brief to choose what to prepare.
We turn a comment such as “develop your analysis” into a specific revision the student understands, then check whether it carries into fresh work.
Students practise selecting and organising their knowledge around a new prompt, keeping the argument tied to what it asks.
The tutor looks for a recurring gap and chooses a manageable revision priority for the next lesson.
The student explains why a detail belongs, how it supports the claim and what the paragraph contributes to the answer.
Students try a complete task similar to their schoolwork. The tutor checks whether they used the feedback, with practice and spaced review between lessons.

Frequently asked questions
Four, at most. Students are grouped by learning pace, not just by year level, so each lesson moves at the speed of the students actually in it. When no session matches a child’s pace, we open a new one. In a class that size, every child answers questions, gets their working checked, and gets help the moment they need it.

We support the English and Language Arts students are studying in Sec 4 or Year 4, including their current school assignments and assessments. Lessons strengthen reading, analytical writing, argument and spoken responses.
We currently support Year 4 students at ACS (Independent), St Joseph’s Institution (SJI), Hwa Chong International School (HCIS), Methodist Girls’ School (MGS) and School of the Arts (SOTA). Lessons use their English or Language Arts texts, tasks and teacher feedback.
Bring the task, the student’s response and teacher comments. Two recent pieces are useful when feedback repeats. The relevant text or presentation brief helps the tutor plan a focused next step.
