Students are grouped by learning pace, not just by level — if no existing session matches your child’s pace, we open a new one.

IP English and Language Arts assignments can ask a student to interpret a poem, evaluate an argument or develop a sustained response. We use the school’s texts and assessment criteria to help students move from observations to an argument they can defend.

MOE describes IP as a six-year programme. This class offer covers its Secondary 1–4 years; your school’s course materials determine the English and Language Arts work we plan together.
Naming a metaphor does not explain its effect. Students practise connecting a language choice to meaning and the wider passage.
We discuss what the essay is trying to establish and how each paragraph moves that argument forward.
Schools use different texts and tasks. A prompt, extract and rubric make the lesson relevant to what the student is being asked to do.
Bring the task, school feedback and relevant text. We identify what a successful response needs to demonstrate before drafting.
Students support a reading with precise evidence and consider whether an alternative interpretation fits the same passage.
We look at how a paragraph connects evidence and explanation, then how paragraphs combine into a coherent response.

Getting started
A recent school assignment gives the teacher a useful starting point.
We look at the questions, the response and the feedback to identify what needs attention first.
We message each family to confirm the school programme, level for 2027 and a suitable lesson time.
A trial class lets your child meet the teacher, take part and see how the lessons work.
Frequently asked questions
Four, at most. Students are grouped by learning pace, not just by year level, so each lesson moves at the speed of the students actually in it. When no session matches a child’s pace, we open a new one. In a class that size, every child answers questions, gets their working checked, and gets help the moment they need it.
School programmes and assessments vary. We ask for the school’s assignment details and criteria so that the work in class fits the student’s English or Language Arts course.
