Sec 4 G2 English Tuition

Our tutors use school feedback to plan Sec 4 G2 revision across writing, comprehension, oral and listening. Students work on recurring mistakes in class, then practise similar tasks without help and under time.

Find what the answer leaves out

A situational response can be grammatically sound yet leave the reader unconvinced. It may mention the required recommendation without explaining why it suits the situation. A comprehension answer can quote the right line yet fail to explain its meaning. Diagnose the missing work before deciding that the student needs more vocabulary.

Read the question beside the answer and identify what is missing. The student revises that part, then tries another question without help. Keep both attempts to compare the explanations.

Original practice exampleAn original summary check

The task

A passage says a new booking system reduces waiting, but only when visitors reserve a slot. A summary says, “The system removes all waiting.” What needs changing?

Worked response

It can reduce waiting for visitors who book a slot.

The revision preserves the condition and the degree of benefit. Cutting words must not convert a qualified point into an absolute claim.

Make time for oral and listening before the final weeks

A planned oral response needs a position, relevant support and a clear sequence. Practise with a short outline, then listen back for repeated ideas and unexplained examples. Follow-up questions should change the angle so the student has to respond to what is asked, rather than deliver another rehearsed paragraph.

When reviewing listening answers, find the part of the recording that supports each one. Did the student miss a changed detail, mistake an example for a reason or run out of time to write it down? Practise that part in the next exercise.

Common difficulties

Practice scores move without a clear reason

We look beyond a paper total to the pattern of errors. Missing content, weak explanation and rushed checking require different changes to the revision plan.

Timing removes the method learned in class

A student may understand summary selection but abandon it under pressure. We rehearse a manageable sequence, observe where time is spent and adjust it through practice.

How our tutors help

Set a specific target for the next attempt

We turn a teacher’s comment into something the student can practise, such as explaining a required point or keeping a condition in a summary.

Practise one part, then try a full section

We work on the difficult part first, then ask the student to try a section or paper that includes it.

Review practice between lessons

The tutor checks platform answers and spaced review to see what needs another explanation and what the student can now do alone.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers for parents

How many students are in each class?

Four, at most. Students are grouped by learning pace, not just by year level, so each lesson moves at the speed of the students actually in it. When no session matches a child’s pace, we open a new one. In a class that size, every child answers questions, gets their working checked, and gets help the moment they need it.

How much does a dedicated trial session cost?

A dedicated trial session at a different timeslot is offered at a subsidised rate of $30. We’ll help you explore the available options.

What are the 2027 G2 English writing lengths?

K200 specifies 180–250 words for situational writing and 250–400 words for continuous writing. The exam-format guide lists the other G2 requirements separately from G1 and G3. Check the official syllabus for the student’s examination year.

Are G2 and G3 paper timings identical?

In the 2027 G2 and G3 syllabuses, Papers 1 and 2 each last 1 hour 50 minutes. Writing lengths differ, so use the requirements for your child’s subject level.

How do you decide between full papers and targeted practice?

A full paper shows how the student handles several tasks and manages time. A short exercise gives them time to work on a specific mistake. We use both, then check another answer to see what has improved.
